General Technician

The Downeast Institute is a marine research and education facility located on Great Wass Island in the Town of Beals. We have an immediate opening for an individual who enjoys diverse responsibilities, has great attention to detail, and takes pride in their work.

The General Technician is primarily responsible for cleaning and light maintenance on most of our campus which includes laboratory space, offices, restrooms and housing. The amount of time devoted to these tasks depends on the time of year and use of housing.

Shellfish hatchery activities may also be required and include routine procedures, such as feeding, cleaning, sorting, and other tasks related to algae and shellfish production, maintenance of activity logs, and assistance with field based experiments.

The position is full time with paid health insurance, holidays and other benefits. Weekend work may be required. Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbs, perform work while standing and have reliable transportation. If interested in applying, please call 207-259-5038.
