Location: Glidden Point Oyster Farm - Edgecomb, ME
Job Type: Full Time 32-40 hours per week, winter work available for the right candidate in January and February of 2027 (~32 hours per week)
Reports To: Operations Manager
Start Date: March 9th, 2026

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as Operations Support and Delivery Driver at Glidden Point. This role involves diverse activities so you’ll never be bored! The applicant selected will work as an assistant to the Operations Manager in this growing and enterprising business providing support in order fulfilment and as a delivery driver in our box truck. In this role, you will be responsible for accurate order packing, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of product to customers, upkeep of sanitation of work spaces to keep product in compliance with safety regulations, and assisting with various farm operations such as harvesting and gear maintenance. The ideal candidate will be meticulous and systematic when preparing orders, comfortable performing customer-facing delivery tasks independently, while also willing to work in a hands-on, dynamic, team environment on the farm. This role is primarily indoors working in our operations department but you will spend a small portion of your time outside helping our farm team.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Interact with software systems to verify orders, create daily pack lists, and print shellfish tags.
  • Assist in order fulfillment under the direction of the Operations Manager by packing and labeling boxes/pallets.
  • Ensure orders are processed correctly with accurate information for every customer and communicate any discrepancies to Operations Manager for correction.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, and sanitary work environment to ensure accurate order fulfillment and compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Occasionally keep records of shipping and receiving when Operations Manager is unavailable.
  • Monitor safety data including temperature of harvested oysters, received oysters, and cooler temperature, and complete all necessary paperwork to keep records for safety and compliance.
  • Safely transport oysters from the farm to various clients, including restaurants, seafood wholesalers, and other customers.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and safe deliveries while providing excellent customer service.
  • Handle all loading and unloading of oysters, ensuring they are transported properly to maintain product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations regarding receiving temperature and handling of oysters include the task of icing down oysters when seasonally appropriate.
    Maintain a clean and organized environment, in the delivery vehicle as well as our farm workspace.
  • Keep delivery vehicles in good working condition by filling necessary fluids, keeping up fuel levels, performing routine vehicle inspections, and promptly reporting any issues or out-of-the-ordinary occurrences to Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate with harvesters and dealers from other oyster farms to prepare pickups based on orders.
  • Uphold rapport with customers during deliveries.
  • Monitor traffic and weather conditions to determine the best routes and adjust delivery schedules as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of deliveries, including signatures and other required documentation. Must ensure all records which demonstrate safety compliance are filed in the proper location with relevant information such as date, time, and temperature.
  • Collect payment from customers and reliably bring checks to designated locations.
  • Communicate with Operations Manager regarding any delays, issues, or unforeseen circumstances. Must be reachable and reliably give information to Operations Manager such as location and ETA.
  • Communicate with both Sales Director and customers to problem solve and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
  • Assist with aspects of oyster farming, which includes harvesting, sorting, cleaning, and packaging oysters.
  • Assist in farm maintenance, including repairing and maintaining farm equipment, as well as contributing to maintaining a clean and respectful workspace.
  • Support any other tasks related to farm operations as requested by the farm manager or supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License: Clean driving record and a valid driver's license are required.
  • Experience: Prior experience with farm work, delivery driving, shipping and receiving, or working in an agricultural or maritime environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and the team.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and keep track of delivery orders and farm activities.
  • Preparation: Ideal candidate comes to work prepared for the day with all necessary items and equipment including phone, food/water, and foul weather gear.
  • Safety-Oriented: Knowledge of safe driving practices, workplace safety protocols, and food safety standards.
  • Flexibility: Able to work in varying environments and demonstrate resiliency to changing conditions day-to-day and long term as the needs of the business grow and change.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Majority of operations support is indoors in our packing room where temps can vary throughout the year, as well as in our walk-in cooler. Some outdoor work in all weather conditions, working on a farm and in a delivery vehicle.
  • Physical Demands: This role involves manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Hours: Work will take place Monday-Thursday. Arrival time is either 6am or 6:30am depending on seasonality (earlier times during the peak season), and days typically finish between 2-2:30pm. Flexibility required for delivery days with occasional 8+ hour days based on delivery schedules and farm needs.
  • Success Will Be Measured By: Correct lot assignment during order fulfillment. Timely execution of delivery routes. No missed orders when delivering. Ability to flex with changes in weekly scheduled tasks based on the needs of the business.

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
  • Benefits include employee discount, paid breaks, paid time off, insurance, and 401K matching.
  • $18-$22 an hour based on experience.
