Oyster Farmer (Seasonal/Long-Term)

Eros Oyster is seeking a reliable, hard-working individual for the 20206 season and beyond. This is a hands-on, outdoor role focused on sustainable aquaculture. We are looking for a candidate who wants to grow with us, learn all aspects of the business, and eventually lead a team of farmers atthe dock. This role requires the employee to be somewhat flexible with our schedule, so we can be flexible with you. Don't look like a perfect match with the hours? Let us know and maybe we can make it work!

Schedule (approximate)

  • Aprl-May: Part-time
  • June-September: Full-time
  • October-December: Tapering to part-time
  • Hours: Typically 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (flexible)

Key Responsibilities

  • Oyster Care: Harvest. sort, clean, bag, and prepare oysters for market.
  • Farm Maintenance: Deploy/flip gear, build and repair equipment, and maintain boats and facilities.
  • Hospitality: Lead dockside tours, assist with U-Pick sales, and perform oyster shucking (training provided).
  • Leadership: Transition into a team lead role for seasonal dock employees.

Qualifications

  • Ability to swim and lift up to 50 lbs on uneven, slippery surfaces.
  • Comfortable working on the water in all weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation is required. Ability to drive a boat (or a strong willingness to learn) is required.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and an interest in sustainable farming.
  • Public-Facing: Willingness to be photographed by visiting customers and interact with the public.
